Cavalier Public School will be participating in the Crazy Christmas Sweater fundraiser on Friday, December 17th. All proceeds go to the L.O.A.N program. Students pay $1 and staff pays $5 to wear crazy Christmas attire.

First quarter Student & Staff Success Assembly awards: Mrs. Danielson nominates Mrs. Moquist for starting the Sunshine Committee. I think it has brought a great moral boost in the school. She has a very bright and bubbly personality, and I enjoy working with her. Mrs. Hay nominates Mrs. Jonasson. She's organized and dedicates endless amounts of time to her students and her classroom along with so many extracurricular activities and committees, yet she still has time to be a great leader in helping me navigate second grade Mrs. Greenwood nominates 3rd grade teacher, Miss Madison Hartje. Madison has exceeded expectations in several areas in teaching practices and has been recognized by UND for her excellent classroom management and instruction. Her students have made tremendous gains this semester. We are very lucky to have her in Cavalier! The 4th-5th grade team would like to nominate our janitorial staff. Scotty Mountain, Steph Sigfusson and Bruce Werven Miss Annie Bennett nominates Cooper Berry from her PK PM class-respectful, kind, always willing to help anyone Mrs. Natalie Hartje nominates Abby Wellman and Elizabeth Stevenson- They are doing an awesome job in Kindergarten with learning their sight words, following directions, and always working hard and doing their best! Miss Benoit nominates Aubree Kemnitz & Wyatt Ramirez Description of achievement: Wyatt and Aubree are both an example of a great leader in and out of the classroom. They are always on task and are always willing to try new things. Their leadership shines in and out of the classroom! Miss Hunter nominates Winnie Crowston in first grade. Winnie is a leader in our classroom. She is hard-working, kind, respectful, and helpful. She always does her best work and encourages her classmates to do the same. She is a great role model in first grade. Mrs.Jonasson nominates Kamden Stegman, Sophia Austfjord, Kaysen Baker. These awesome second graders have been strong leaders and hard workers in the classroom. They have reached reading goals and work very hard at everything they do. I am very proud of them! Mrs. Hay nominates Mia Kemnitz for her hard work, kindness, and leadership. Mia is respectful to classmates and always willing to help someone. She is a great role model in the classroom. Mrs. Hay nominates Alexis Hager. Having been gone in first grade, Alexis has shown incredible strength and courage to jump right back into the classroom. Every day she shows invincible grit by staying on task and working hard at everything she does. Way to go Alexis! Mrs. Greenwood nominates Name: Adam Kendell, Jacob Muth, and Gryffen McCurdy These students are being recognized for their achievements in reading. They have made incredible gains and are showing greater interdependence in reading by working hard to achieve their reading goals. They have grown in confidence and leadership and enjoy demonstrating comprehension skills to their class during whole group instruction. From Miss Zaharia's 5th grade Kendra Briese is a student who consistently follows our school virtues. Additionally, she is respectful to her teachers and classmates alike. Kendra also works very hard academically. She puts effort into her studies and participates in class. Micah Crosby Micah Crosby is a very kind and respectful student. He is very respectful. He is welcoming to all his classmates and is a friend to all. Micah is very helpful in the classroom and does his best. Chyane LeTexier Chyane LeTexier is a student who genuinely cares about her class. She is always someone willing to stay behind and finish a job. She will be the first one to volunteer to help out. She participates in class and is kind to all her classmates and teachers. From Mr. Ricard’s 5th grade: Carter Karau is the perfect example of invincible grit. He never gives up and is always willing to take a chance, even on something new. this student has grown so much from the beginning of the year, and i can’t wait to see how far he goes. Ali Briese , has been a pillar of success in my classroom, She is always on task, with a positive attitude. Always one of the first to offer a helping hand or a kind word to lift someone spirits. Raegan Safranski, she is a very kind and courtesy student. She is one to always make sure everyone is doing alright, even the teacher. She is always willing to stay longer to help with whatever needs it. Jasmyn has been a leader by example. Jasmyn has represented our school at school board meetings and Cavalier Area Chamber of Commerce meetings, where she gives monthly reports on student happenings. Brady Monette, Aiden Henry, and Madilyn Gauthier-have done a great job this year by working after school doing jobs such as sweeping, cleaning, emptying garbage cans in order to keep our school clean. Mrs. Lindner has had a battle over the past year that no one ever wishes for. She has done such a fantastic job of keeping her art classes going in her absence, always has such a great attitude, and is back from cancer and is ready for anything that life throws at her.

Mr. Bennett’s Invention & Innovation class and Mrs. Jonasson’s 2nd graders teamed up to make some cool gifts today. They showed the 2nd graders how to use a Glowforge machine to put names on Christmas gifts. The machine used a laser to engrave. They thought it was awesome! We also made a few Christmas trees. Thanks Mr. Bennett and class for helping!

Cavalier students in grades 6-12 will be attending the Tasha Schuh presentation in Walhalla at 1 pm on December 1st. Tasha will also present an evening session open to the public with a meal starting at 6 pm, followed by a 7 pm presentation.

Seniors engaged in Hexagonal Thinking to review the class novel. Students were given tiles with elements from the novel and arranged related tiles next to each other. This led to building a web of connections, which encouraged higher-level understanding and discussions

Congratulations to the Tornadoes football team on a great season! The team is leaving Fargo now (1:20 PM) and headed back to Cavalier for a welcome home ceremony at the school. It will begin 15-30 minutes after they arrive at the school. Drive home safe Tornadoes and fans!
