To fulfill certain speaking and listening standards, 5th grade students participated in a Socratic Seminar. Students developed a higher-level thinking question and prepared by answering that and other questions related to the novel Hatchet. Students then used those questions to hold a discussion. Students were asked to answer a question, ask a question, and reference another student in the discussion. Our seminar was held in shifts, with the inside circle discussing while the outside circle practiced listening skills and evaluated a peer in the discussion. After a certain time, students flipped roles. Tomorrow, students will draw conclusions from the information discussed to answer an essential question based on the novel.

Boys Golf begins on Tuesday, April 11 @ 3:50pm in the ITV2 room. No equipment needed!

Miss Zaharia's 5th grade ELA classes exercised creativity, one of the school's virtues, in projects completed as part of a novel study on Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. Students could choose from a variety of projects: a diorama representing the setting of the story, a miniature raft exercising STEM skills that actually had to float, and a book jacket which included their own enticing summaries of the book, among others. Thank you parents for helping your child complete these awesome projects!

Cavalier School will hold virtual learning for students again on Thursday, April 6th. The same expectations as today for students and staff will be followed. Stay safe everyone and we will see everyone back in school on Tuesday. Happy Easter break!

Cavalier FBLA students attended the State Leadership Conference in Bismarck on Monday. Unfortunately, they had to cancel the Awards Ceremony on Tuesday due to the weather. Taking second place In Job Interview - Cylee Walton
Congratulations to all those who participated in the State Leadership Conference. You represented Cavalier with honor and respect!

School will dismiss at Cavalier at 1:30 pm today. Wednesday will be a Virtual Learning day. Hoping for on-time or late start on Thursday. There will be no school on April 7th and April 10th.

The indoor track meet in Grand Forks has been cancelled for today. The FBLA group will be returning from Bismarck today instead of coming back tomorrow. Be safe everyone. We plan to have a full day of school today and hopefully start on time tomorrow. If we do not have school on Wednesday, it will be a Virtual Learning day. At this time we still plan to have days off from school on April 7th and April 10th.

A reminder that the April early dismissal for staff professional development has been changed from Wednesday, April 12th to Wednesday, April 26th. Still at the same time of 12:20 pm.
